Jump to: navigation, searchmacOS 10.5.5 Hardware Compatibility

*Hardware Components

This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.

* ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.

* Please add hardware into tables.

* This is for 10.5.5 builds only.

*It's clear, putting MacOS-X on an ordinary PC is a hassle and probably also good so - as that OS is really meant to run on Apple made hardware, and there it runs like a charm. For myself I keep iDeneb 1.3 (MacOS-X 10.5.5) running for some more time, and then choose an alternative, e.g. Either iPC-OSX86 or going for the awaited Kubuntu 9.10 again.

For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

*Patches: Audio needs this codec dump and applied using AppleHDAPatcher v1.20.

*What doesn't work: Shutdown/Restart rarely works, and will not wake from sleep.

* Source: iAktos 5i (10.5.5, upgradable to 10.5.6).

* Installs fine on IDE optical drive to a SATA HDD.

* Do install procedure in following order:

* On iAktos 5i (10.5.5) install DVD, check box the following only: cameleon, dsmos, AppleSMIBIOS-28, Stock ACPI modified, APIC Driver, disabler.kext, Intel SATA, JMicron.

* Patch video card as appropriate (OsX86Tools may work okay at this point).

* Update to 10.5.6 with this procedure [1] (follow procedure exactly).

* Audio: works 100% with this patch [2], do this only after 10.5.6 update.

* LAN: works 100% with this patch [3], do this only after 10.5.6 update.

* Use OsX86Tools to enable Quartz Extreme...but don't use OsX86Tools to download & install NVinject, this bricked my machine twice.9.5.0 voodoo kernel, EFI v9, Cameleon 1.0.12Yes, almost all functions working (lan, audio, usb, shutdown/restart, time machine) but only after following the procedure outlined here.

Unable to wake from sleep (even with current bios ver. 18). Have not tested PS/2 ports. Needed to install a SATA DVD burner to rip/burn DVD/CD's without getting kernal panic. I have E8400 on it with 7 GB of RAM currently, two SATA disk, one PATA disk. I used iATKOS 10.5.5i to install from an ATAPI DVD drive. Just as the manual of iATKOS suggests, I used the PC EFI v9, default SMBIOS Enabler (the one for desktops), default Decrypter, stock kernel, x86 ACPI driver (because i had a PS2 keyboard and mouse), Disabler, Remove Thermal Kexts, Intel SATA non-AHCI (you could go with AHCI, but i have old XP here too on another disk and that's just me), OHR to fix the shutdown/restart issue, a driver for the Ethernet adapter RTL 8111B. As i was an idiot enough to buy a 8400GS card from Asus, i had to try many times and finally NVkush from the iATKOS DVD proved very good, QE/CI work. The only thing that I can't get to work is the ALC889A audio. Tried some solutions but none of them worked. But i'm too lazy for that and as i have a SB Extigy at hand, i will go with it because i read somewhere that it works. * So, this little one was a right bugger to deal with, but i have got this working, infact im writing this on it now.

So what we have here is OEM Board from MSI its a generic brand, but its usually found in Medion or Advent Desktop PCs.So how to install? Simple, Download the iDenib OS X 10.5.5 distro, burn it, plop it in the drive, run the install in verbose mode '-v'when you hit the installer, prepare your HDD, i have XP and 7 Triple booted, with dual bootloading just in case ;), once your in your customise settings....Choose Azailia Audio, Your GFX, this is running Nvidia 8500GT 256MB, with 1GB DDR SDRAM, P4 HT 550 3.4GHz, dont choose any smbios, choose ich for chipset, choose viarhine for onboard ethernet, and for the rest, have a tinker around, oh and make sure to enable in the bios usb 1.1 mode or otherwise your mouse wont work, and even thats buggy at times, if you dont click the buttons the mouse will play dead so you will have to do a hard reset if you havent got mac hardware plugged in that is, if there is anything else, i will update it, cause ive spent 6 hours getting this working, and my god its a pain in the butt!, but yeah if you have one of these generic boards or even have an advent, swap your gpu for the nvidia, cause you wont get it up and running with the standard ati radeon x600 pro that ships with the mbo.Yes. and No, you might need to tinker around if you have a different version.Yes. Pentium 4 HT 550 3.4Ghz and 1GB DDR SDRAM working.[edit] Shuttle Hardware NameChipsetNotesEFI/Vanilla kernel workingFully Working w/o Patch Shuttle SP35P2 V2 Intel P35 + ICH9R Using iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5
